About Me
MY BACKGROUND
I am an ML Engineer at Hyperverge Inc., working at the intersection of face biometrics, document anomaly & forgery detection, multi-modal deep learning, and image understanding in general. I lead the Face and Documents AI Research team here, working on Face Recognition, Debiasing FR Models, 2D & 3D Face Synthesis, Document Forgery Detection, and Document Quality checks. I also lead many new initiatives at Hyperverge, such as VLMs for downstream tasks, visual speech recognition, and face-based remote health assessment. In addition to my full-time job at Hyperverge, I am also a graduate student at Georgia Tech pursuing my Masters in Computer Science. I have completed my undergraduate studies at the Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati, majoring in Electronics and Communication Engineering. I undertook internships at various companies like Hyperverge Inc. in my junior year and UncannyVision, and Chainrule.ai in my sophomore year. I have worked under the supervision of Prof. Arijit Sur at Multimedia Lab, IIT Guwahati, and Prof. Rohit Sinha for my Bachelor's Thesis Project. I have been working on deep learning since 2017 on a wide variety of problems, from large-scale face search systems, multi-modal LLMs, multi-modal speech separation, medical imaging to fraud detection. I have also led the Entrepreneurial Development Cell of IIT Guwahati as its secretary and convenor between 2018-19.

November 2022: Paper accepted at WACV 2023
Our paper titled "The Impact of Racial Distribution in Training Data on Face Recognition Bias: A Closer Look" has been accepted for presentation at The Fourth Workshop on Demographic Variations in Performance of Biometric Systems at WACV 2023.
May 2022: Top 5 on NIST's FRVT 1:1 and 1:N leaderboards
Ranked 7th globally on the NIST FRVT1:1 leaderboard and 2nd globally on the Border Images benchmark of the leaderboard. Ranked 5th globally on the FRVT 1:N Investigation track.
Dec 2021: Top 3 on NIST's FRVT Paperless Travel Leaderboard
Ranked 3rd globally (a tie with 1st and 2nd places) on the prestigious U.S NIST's Face Recognition Vendor Test (FRVT) Paperless Travel leaderboard.
September 2021: Top 10 on NIST's FRVT 1:N
Ranked 9th globally on the prestigious U.S NIST's Face Recognition Vendor Test (FRVT) 1:N leaderboard in the identification track. Ranked 4th in the investigation track.

Placed in Top 20 Teams among 6000 teams from Top 40 institutions in the nation.
June 2016: Foundation For Excellence Fellowship 2016-2020
The fellowship is given to the meritorious students by FFE, an Indo-American foundation. The fellows receive four years of tuition fee-free undergraduate studies and special online skill training as part of the fellowship.
